A festive guided walking tour through historic Bergen, including Bryggen, Pepperkakebyen and Bergen Christmas Market – with local stories, Christmas traditions and a warming drink to finish.
Discover the magic of Christmas in Bergen on a guided walking tour combining the city's fascinating history, the famous Gingerbread Town and the festive atmosphere of Bergen Christmas Market.
Together with your local guide, you'll explore Bergen's origins and the stories that have shaped life here for centuries. Along the way, discover how trade, the sea and the seasons influenced everyday life, food and local traditions – including some of the customs that still define a Norwegian Christmas today.
We visit historic Bryggen, Bergen's UNESCO World Heritage Site, before continuing through some of the city's oldest streets to Pepperkakebyen, the much-loved Gingerbread Town created each year by the people of Bergen. You'll have time to explore on your own before we continue through the decorated city centre towards Bergen Christmas Market.
At the Christmas Market, your guide will introduce you to the flavours and traditions of the season before we finish in the market's cosy, heated lounge with a warming cup of gløgg – Norwegian mulled wine, with or without alcohol – or hot chocolate.
Entrance to Pepperkakebyen and your hot drink are included, and you'll take home this year's Bergen Christmas Market mug as a souvenir. After the tour, you're welcome to stay and explore the market at your own pace.
Developed by Pievino in collaboration with Pepperkakebyen and Bergen Christmas Market, this small-group experience brings together Bergen's history, local traditions and two of the city's best-loved Christmas attractions.
